During the spring semester of the academic year 2019-2020 and due to the COVID-19 quarantine, tertiary education in Greece was called to adapt to a new educational environment, that of Synchronous Distance Learning. This adaptation also brought changes to laboratory courses, such as the Precision Agriculture lab course. During the pre-COVID 19 times, commercial GIS software was the primary educational tool of the course. The presentation captures the transition from commercial GIS to free and open-source GIS software as an educational tool for the needs of the "Precision Agriculture" course at the Department of Agriculture of the International Hellenic University.
